How to File for Unemployment Benefits in Indiana

In this article we´re goona talk a little bit about how to navigate the Indiana Department of Workforce Development website to file for unemployment benefits.

Please note to apply you will need a valid email account, your address, social security number, Indiana driver´s license or valid ID, date of birth and phone number. You will also need your last employer´s name, contact information, dates of employment and reason your unemployed as well as the most recent check stub to.

To begin, go to: unemployment.in.gov

From here, if you scroll you will see basic information for claimants both for individuals and employers information specific to the pandemic related claim filings, frequently asked questions pages, information about payment options and the link to the claimant self-service.

To begin click on that “Claimant Self-Service” link:

If you do not have an account already you will go to “New User Registration” and fill out for that form.

Please, note that if you´re experiencing any issues due to the extremely high call volume weigths might be longer than usual.

Additionally since Congress passed the pandemic cares act, they´re still working through what that meand for unemployed workers. So they are asking that for now we refrain from calling the unemployment insurance call center with specific questions about the new stimulus package, but once they have the answers they will post them on this page as well as the Department of Workforce Development’s pandemic page.
