Change Your Password – Step by Step
To change your password, go to secure.esd.wa.gov.
Follow these steps:
Step 1: Sign In
- Enter your current username and password.
- Click Sign in.
Step 2: Manage Account
- Once signed in, click Manage Account.
- A drop-down menu will appear. On the drop-down menu, click Change password.
Step 3: Change Password
- Change your password by entering your current password, followed by your new password.
- Retype your new password.
Note: Your new password must be at least 10 characters long and contain at least 3 of the following 4 elements: an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a symbol.
For example: MaggyMayIs6!
Step 4: Submit
Click Submit.
You will see a notice confirming that you have changed your password. You will also receive an email notification stating that your password has been changed.

Step 1: Forgot Password
- Visit secure.esd.wa.gov.
- Click on Having trouble signing in.
- Enter your username, email address, and check the box next to “I’m not a robot”.
- Click Submit.
Step 2: Temporary Password
You will receive an email from the Employment Security Department with a temporary password. The email will contain a link to take you back to secure.esd.wa.gov.
Step 3: Sign In with Temporary Password
- Click the link provided in the password reset email.
- Sign in with your username and temporary password.
Step 4: Change Password
- Change your password by entering your temporary password, followed by your new password.
- Retype your new password.
