To file weekly claims online, go to unemployment.ohio.gov. Click I am an unemployed worker. Click login to my unemployment insurance account.
Read the release of information, then click I Agree to continue. Click login under the claimant login section. Enter your Social Security number in the SSN text box. Do not enter Spaces or dashes. Click Login.
You will be directed to the OH|ID login page. Use your OH|ID credentials to log into your OH|ID account. Respond to the prompts to secure your account and verify your identity. You will then reach your Ohio unemployment benefits main menu.
How to File for Weekly Unemployment Benefits – Step by step
This is the claimant main menu screen.You will see this each time you log in.
Any week available to file will appear here under the Weekly Claim heading. The weeks will be listed by the ending date.If the week you want to file is not showing, contact your processing center.
Personal Information
You may be asked to review and confirm your personal information. When done, click the Next buttonat the bottom of this page.
Identity Verification
If you entered a mobile phone number and selected yes to enable text message, you will be sent a one time passcode. This passcode expires in five minutes. Enter the passcode and click Next to continue.
If you did not receive a passcode, you can check the One time Passcode Not Received box and click the Resend button that appears. You can only do this twice. If you still do not receive the passcode, leave this box checked and click Next.
You will see this identity verification – verification question screen if you:
- chose not to enable text messaging,
- did not enter a mobile phone number, or did not enter a phone number that they have associated with you,
- or didnot receive a passcode.
Answer the questions and click Next.
Reemployment Activities
This is the reemployment activities screen.
If you have reemployment activities that still must be completed, this screen will appear before you can move on to the weekly claim questions. The dates the activities must be completed will also be shown.These activities are mandatory and should be completed as soon as possible.To move forward, click the File Week button.
Continued Claim Application
Answer all questions honestly and accurately. Remember that false statements could result in overpayments which you must repay in addition to penalties.
Question number one: During the week claimed, were you available for work? Being available means you were ready and willing to seek and accept full time work.
Question number two: During the week claimed, were you physically and mentally able to work? Being able to work means you are physically and mentally able to work full time in some capacity.
Question number three: During the week claimed, did you complete two work search activities? If you are required to seek work, you must complete at least two work search activities each week. Failure to do so may results in a denial of benefits.
Question number Four: During the week claimed:
a. did you refuse work or a referral to work? You must accept work offered to you on any shift or in any occupation as long as the working conditions reasonably compare to your prior work experience, skills and training.
b. did you quit employment? Answer yes if you went back to work or found new work during the week and then quit during the same week for which you are filing.
c. were you discharged or fired from employment? Answer yes if you went back to work or found new work during the week and then were discharged or fired during the same week for which you are filing. Remember refuse, quit or discharged apply to new work, not the job that ended that caused you to file for unemployment.
Question number Five: During the week claimed, did you apply for (or was there a change in the amount of) pension, or any other type of retirement payment? Answer yes, if, during the same week for which you are filing, you applied to receive pension or retirement or there was a change in the amount of your on going pension payments.
Question number Six: Did you receive, or will you receive, holiday pay for a holiday that occurred during the week claimed? Holiday pay should be reported only when a holiday occurs during the same week for which you are filing, even if you will be paid for it during another week.
Question number seven: did you work (full time or part-time), or were you self employed during the week claimed? Gross earnings should be reported only when the work occurs during the same week for which you are filing, even if you will be paid for it during another week. If you return to work full time during this particular week, enter your return to workdate next to question seven b. If you answered no to question seven, this message box will appear.
If you fail to report earnings duringa week in which you work. This could be considered fraud. Federal and state laws require mandatory penalties for unemployment claimants who commit fraud.
Click next to save your answers. Review your responses. If you agree that your answers are truthfuland accurate, select the first option to save and certify your weekly claim answers. Click next to continue.

You may wish to print this screen or write down the confirmation code for your records. Click next to return to the main menu.
