To file an unemployment claim, you’ll need the following information:

  • Your Social Security number
  • Total earnings for the week (before taxes and deductions)
  • Name, address, and dates of employment for each employer you’ve worked for in the last 18 months
  • Banking information (routing and account number) if you prefer direct deposit for benefit payments

Step 1: Set Up an Account

There is no charge to file for unemployment, and setting up an account is simple. Just visit the Missouri Department of Labor website and click on “Create One” on the login page.

Step 2: Login and File Your Unemployment Claim

Once you’ve created your account, log in with your user ID and password. Click on “Unemployment Claim” and select “File Unemployment Claim” to begin the filing process.

Step 3: File Weekly Requests for Payment

After each week has ended, it’s important to file a weekly request for payment, even for the week you initially filed for unemployment. To do this, log in to your account on the Missouri Department of Labor website and select “Weekly Request for Payment.”
