To begin go to: https://www.mass.gov/how-to/apply-for-pandemic-unemployment-assistance
In the website, scroll down and click on “Apply now”:
Scroll down in the PUA section and Click on “Apply for PUA”:
Documents You Need to Apply for PUA
Below you will find everything you need to apply for PUA in Massachusetts. The documents you need are the following:
- Social security number
- Date of birth
- Driver license or state ID
- If you´re not a US citizen, your USCIS issued identification number
- Home address and your mailing address, if different than your home address
- Cell phone to receive SMS updates and phone calls or home phone number
- Email address for electronic communication and account access
- 2019 wage records which may include your W2s, 1099s, K-1s related to partnerships, Pay Stubs, or Bank Statements.
- Bank account and routing numbers if you want to use direct deposits for benefit payments.
Apply for PUA
You have to get all these infor ready. Click “Next”:
Click “I Agree” on Legal Acknowledgments:
Click “I Agree” on Federal Accuracy Certification:
Select one of the reason in the pandemic qualifications. Select Yes to the question and enter the date you impacted:
Answer to all of the questions in Benefit Eligibility.

Income & Dependents
In this section enter your income and click on “I certify that the amount..”.
Also enter number of children:
In this section, first you will enter your name. Also you will enter the Social Security Number and the Date of Birthday. For last, enter the Driver´s License or State ID. Scroll down to enter and verify your address.
Select your Payment Preference:
Type in your info base on your reference.
Here you will have to create your account. You will your email, set up password and select a security question.
After enter your phone number and select your communication preference.
The confirmation page will be shown below. Read through then Click Ok.
To File a Weekly Claim
Now, you could to log in to your PUA.
You will enter a verify security code. The code is sending to your email.
The current benefits tells you how much you will get.
Action Center will tell you anything you need to do.
To file a claim click on “File Weekly Clam”. Click Next in the Instructions Page.
Provide Income Information
In this section, you will answer two questions about “Earnings and Other Income”:
Select the pandemic impact
In this section, you will select the reason you claim this week for.
Click Next to continue.
Answer Availability Questions
Acknowledge and Submit
Here you agree to the terms and conditions by clicking on “I Agree”.
Finally, you will Submit Your Claim for this week by clicking on “Submit”. You are all set.
