How to Filing for PUA in South Carolina

After logging into your SC portal with your username and password, click on the “Apply for PUA” link.

If you log into the portal and see the filed new unemployment claim link, please click on the link and file your unemployment claim to apply for regular unemployment and PUA.

Apply for PUA Benefits

If you are not elegible for regular unemployment, you may be elegible for PUA. The system will present the PUA application questions.

You will answer the following questions regarding your unemployment:

  • Is your unemployment a direct result of pandemic?
  • Were you working fulltime? If you answer No, you will be required to enter the amount of hours you work and the customary amount for your last occupation.
  • Personal Injury Insurance: You answer “Yes” or “No” if you are receiving personal injury insurance.
  • Date when you first unemployed:  You´ll provide the last day you phisically worked.

You must check the acknowledgement box indicating you are applying for PUA benefits. Then, click Next.

Fact-Finding

After clicking next, the system present the fact-finding screen where you must complete the fact-finding for your PUA claim to determine your eligibility for benefits. You will click on the “Provide Additional Information” to the right of the PUA eligiblity issue.

The system will take you into the fact-finding process and ask you more specific questions regarding your most recent employment. You´ll be asked to provide the name of your last employer, the address, phone number, your last occupation and your last day worked.

The last question will ask you: What type of employment did you had?. You will choose from regular full-time employer, schedule employment, regular self-employment or self-employment. The system will cater the next questions based on the type of employment you choose.

Once you have completed filing out the fact-finding, you will given an opportunity to review your responses. If your responses are correct, click the “Submit” button.

Confirmation

You will receive a confirmation number after succesfully submitting the claim. When you navigate back to your claim at homepage, you will see your PUA claim in a pending status.

You should receive a determination of your eligibiliy shortly after filing.
