In this article, we will guide you through the process of completing your unpaid wage claim.
If you have not been paid for hours worked, you must provide a record of those hours. If you don’t have copies of your time cards, you can estimate the hours based on your recollection.
To provide the required information, you have two options. You can either attach any written records at the end of the complaint form, or use the daily entry form in this section. Let’s start by clicking the daily entry button on the right-hand side of the screen.
A pop-up will appear where you can enter the date you worked by typing it or selecting it from the options. Next, input the time you arrived and left work that day. If you had an unpaid meal period, include its length in minutes. Lastly, calculate the total hours you worked that day, excluding the time for the unpaid meal period. In this example, the employee worked eight hours per day after deducting the 60-minute unpaid meal period.
Click the Save button to log the day into the entry. Repeat these steps to include daily entries for all the days and times you worked but were not paid for.
Once you have recorded your hours worked, you need to calculate the amount of unpaid wages. In this section, enter your hourly rate of pay and add up the hours from your daily entries in the total hours worked field. For example, if your hourly wage is $15 and you worked a total of 40 hours, enter those values.
If you have received any partial payments from your employer, add that amount to the gross amount paid field. After filling in these fields, click the Save button at the top of the page to save your work and allow the system to calculate the total wages earned.
When the page refreshes, scroll down and review that the claimed amount accurately reflects what you are owed. Lastly, you can choose to save and exit or click the next button to continue with your complaint.
