This article provides a comprehensive walkthrough for employers on how to handle mass layoffs and partial claims via Gus. It emphasizes the use of specific functions available within your account to accomplish this task.
Efficiently Filing Mass Layoff & Partial Claims in NEworks
As an employer, you can access these services by logging into your account and selecting Unemployment Services > Mass Layoffs.
With this action, you’ll arrive at an upload screen. From here, select Create Mass Layoffs or Partial Filed Claim.
Doing so directs you to a page that offers a selection of spreadsheets to use. In this instance, we’re focusing on mass layoffs, so we’ll pick the relevant spreadsheet for importing claimant data. The initial page within this spreadsheet provides formatting guidelines and instructions, while the second page is designated for entering your staff’s details.
All entries in blue fields are compulsory, while those in white fields aren’t. You’ll find date format guidelines and term definitions here.
After inserting your details, as well as that of the claimant, hit Add after each entry.
When all entries have been filled, click Export Data.
Saving and Uploading your Data
Next, save the file to your desktop or any other desired folder. After a successful save, locate this file and click Upload. Sometimes, the upload may take longer than expected. The system updates you on the progress, so be patient. Once uploaded, you can review the entered data by navigating back to the upload page.
Reviewing your Entries
From the display, you can check your mass layoff notifications, view individual employee data, and examine the claim details to confirm the layoff type.
It’s worth noting that the process is pretty much similar when filing partial claims, save for the fact that you will be filing on behalf of the claimant and additional claimant information is needed.
Filing Partial Claims
For partial claims, start by choosing the CSV file format or the data entry spreadsheet.
The layout is identical, with the first page bearing instructions and formatting guidelines.
On the second page, insert your data. Claimant-specific details, such as citizenship status, veteran status, return-to-work-date, and claim effective date, must all be input.
After each entry, click Add, and when done, hit Export Data.
Save the file to your desktop or a specified folder, then choose that file.
The system will guide you back to the information page where you can view each claim filed. You can then confirm the laid-off type is “partial.”
Notifying Claimants
Gus will then send an email link to each claimant. They must follow this link, verify their personal details to confirm their identity, and then proceed to file their weekly certifications. Thus, this concludes the guide on managing mass layoffs and partial claims as an employer, leveraging Gus’s capabilities.
