How to Register with the New MFA System | Kansas Department of Labor

Posted on by

Welcome to the guide on creating an account for Get Kansas Benefits and setting up multi-factor authentication.

In this guide, we will cover the process of creating an account, email verification, the concept of multi-factor authentication, and how it protects your identity. Please note that the registration process will take 20 to 30 minutes and must be completed in one sitting.

To begin the registration process, go to GetKansasBenefits.gov and click on “Login/Register.” Make sure you have an active email address as this will be used as your username going forward. It’s important to complete the registration process in one sitting. Close any notifications and scroll down to click on “Login” to continue.

On the next page, click on “Sign Up” to proceed. Fill in the required information, including your email, social security number, date of birth, security word, and pin number. Note that some of these items cannot be changed once submitted, so make sure they are entered correctly and remember them.

Choose a valid email address to be used as your username and receive a verification email from KDALL Benefits. Next, choose a password that meets the requirements provided. Enter your personal details, such as your first name, last name, and telephone number.

Provide your current street address, city, and zip code. Choose a four-digit pin number that cannot be all zeros or all nines. Confirm your social security number, enter the date of birth, and choose a security word. Once the form is complete, click on “Register.”

An email verification will be sent to your registered email address. Check your spam folder if you don’t see it. Click once on the “Activate Account” button. Do not click it more than once or forward the email.

Next, set up multi-factor authentication to protect your account from identity theft. You may be required to enter a code received via phone call, email, or text message for verification. Click on “Configure Factor” to continue. You can skip adding a phone number if desired.

Select a security image and click on “Create My Account” to complete the setup process. To ensure you’re not a software robot, select “I am human” and complete a brief image-based verification. Click on “Next” after selecting the appropriate images containing a specific item.

After successfully setting up multi-factor authentication, click on “Verify” to complete the process. Occasionally, you may be asked to complete a brief personalized questionnaire to further verify your identity. If you fail the questionnaire, contact the KDALL Unemployment Contact Center associated with your area code.

Your registration is now complete, and you will be redirected to the dashboard page. This will be your login page for both Get Kansas Benefits and Pandemic Unemployment Assistance. To edit personal information, password, security image, MFA configuration, or display language, go to the upper right of the screen and click on your name. Select “Settings” from the menu options and make the necessary changes.

When you’re ready to log back in and apply for unemployment benefits, return to GetKansasBenefits.gov. Remember, your username is now your email address, and you no longer need a password. Feel free to revisit this guide as needed. Thank you for watching.
